2. Academic Integrity Resources
Academic Integrity
The University of Queensland is an academic community dedicated to the pursuit and creation of knowledge. The foundation of our community is a set of shared values.
We act with integrity and professionalism and uphold the highest ethical standards. We are committed to transparency and accountability.
The International Center for Academic Integrity describes academic integrity as a commitment to the values of ‘honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage’.
All members of the UQ community are responsible for upholding academic integrity.

Explore the Staff Academic Integrity Modules (SAIM) for effective strategies to support students in ways that will have a lasting impact. SAIM addresses key issues such as contract cheating, assessment, technology and group work.
Student responsibilities
It is important that students act with integrity in their studies and in their assessment. To help our students understand what this means, all students are required to complete the Academic Integrity Modules (AIM) in their first semester of study. Teaching staff are encouraged to enrol in this course to see what their students are learning.
Acting with integrity also means acting in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and avoiding actions like cheating and plagiarism. A student who is found to have breached the Student Code of Conduct, may go through the misconduct process and fail their course, or for the most serious types of misconduct they may be suspended from their studies.
Academic Integrity Scenarios
The scenarios below were co-designed as part of a staff-student partnership project to help describe the types of situations students may find themselves in that lead them to breaching the Student Code of Conduct. By highlighting these situations, it is hoped students can realise the consequences of these actions.
